Hunt for truffles in the Margaret River Region and beyond

For those seeking to immerse themselves in the truffle experience, Forage Safaris offers tours during the cooler winter months of June, July and August.

These tours not only provide the opportunity to witness truffle hunts first-hand but also include walks through the picturesque truffle orchard (trufferie), along with interactions with the truffle dogs, opportunities to dig up truffles and enjoy tastings of this unique French Black Truffle, also known as the Perigord Truffle.

A truffle hunt experience includes putting on your boots and warm jacket and following the farmer and dogs for a walk into the truffle orchard. Here learn about what a truffle is, their history and the relationship between the truffle and the tree, walk with the dogs and witness their hunting technique, learn how to check and harvest the truffle, rounding up the experience by tasting the truffles back in the warm farm shop with a delicious hot beverage.

The remainder of your day tour also includes visits to other producers to indulge in locally produced gourmet delights, as well as bespoke wine tastings at a few of the many incredible cellar doors in the Margaret River Region. or around the Southern Forests Region.

  • TRUFFLE TOUR OPTIONS:-

    • Margaret River Truffles & Wine: A curated four hour long tour which includes a one hour Truffle Hunt with the farmer and dogs, with additional visits to local producers and tailored wine tasting. COST PER PERSON: minimum 2 Adult $375, 12-17 yrs $210, 2-11 yrs $210

    • Half Day Tour with Truffle Hunt: This 4 hour family tour option will appeal to all ages during the cooler months. Rug up warm and enjoy an invigorating Truffle Hunt, along with a tasty tour of the Margaret River Region’s variety of producers including hot chocolates, honey, olive products and more. COST PER PERSON: minimum 2 Adults $310 per person, 2-17 yrs $210 per person, 2-11 yrs $210 per child.

    • Full Day Tour: Add a one hour Truffle Hunt to to your Full Day Margaret River experience this winter. Additional COST PER PERSON: minimum 2 adults $180, 12-17yrs $180, 2-11yrs $115

    • Upgrade to an in-depth two hour Premium Truffle Hunt includes 2 hour tour, in-depth tastings with fresh truffles on 4 different plates. Available on any tour, on request.

    • Truffle Tour and hotel pick up on request.

  • Minimum 2 people, maximum 7 people. Young children will need to be carried on tour, no prams or pushchairs can be used

  • Dietary requirements catered for

  • Inclusive of private guide/vehicle, truffle hunt, farm and winery visits, food and wine tastings, mid tour snacks with tea/coffee

  • Departs from 9.30am or 1pm (times may vary)
